Seborrheic Dermatitis
Seborrheic Dermatitis
This condition is known as “cradle cap” in infants and can present with yellow greasy scaly patches on the crown of the scalp. In adolescents and adults, it favors the scalp, ears, eyebrows, folds around the nose, beard area, and mid chest. Itchy flaky patches with crust and adherent scale can be embarrassing due to the facial involvement. Treatment with medicated shampoos, anti- yeast agents, topical steroids, and immunomodulators (pimecrolimus and tacrolimus) can help manage the disease. A new agent Zoryve has just been approved for use in this common skin condition.
