Molluscum Contagiosum

Molluscum Contagiosum

Molluscum is a very common childhood viral condition presenting in 2-10 year old children and presents with multiple small skin colored dome shaped bumps. These “warts” may spontaneously resolve if left alone but in cases of multiple lesions or in a child with eczema treatment with topical imiquimod, liquid nitrogen, scraping, or application of Cantharidin “beetle juice” may be warranted. Chicken pox like scars may occur with or without treatment. Resolution of molluscum may be months to years.
