Actinic Keratosis

Actinic Keratosis

Actinic keratosis are precancerous lesions which have a low risk of developing into squamous cell carcinomas of the skin. These red rusted irregular patches are most common on chronically sun exposed areas like the face, V neck, scalp, arms. Although all lesions ma not required treatment, some lesions are painful, irritated, and itchy and due to the potential risk of progression to skin cancer, treatment intervention may be warranted. Treatments include topical chemotherapy creams, destruction via liquid nitrogen or curettage, and photodynamic therapy (Blu light).
