Robert McMurray, M.D.

Dr. Robert McMurray is a board certified rheumatologist with 30 years of rheumatology and internal medicine experience.  Graduating from the University of North Carolina, Dr. McMurray completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, followed by subspecialty training in Rheumatology at the University of Missouri, remaining on faculty there for 5 years before matriculating to the University of Mississippi in 1995.   Dr. McMurray served at both the University of Mississippi and G.V. Sonny Montgomery VA Hospital for 19 years, providing clinical services in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, traveled to Greenwood twice a month to serve the Delta and provided education for medical students, residents, and fellows at UMC, several of whom remain in the state of Mississippi. From 1995 to 2014 Dr. McMurray was very active in medical research that resulted in over 70 publications and also trained/educated 21 Rheumatology fellows who practice statewide, nationally and internationally.

During this time he achieved the rank of Professor of Medicine, was Department of Medicine Teacher of the Year in 2003, was Chief of the VA Medical Service from 2002-2004, and served 10 years as Division Director of Rheumatology at the University of Mississippi Department of Medicine until 2014.  Dr. McMurray looks forward to continuing his medical and rheumatology career by providing individualized medical care at Madison Medical Rheumatology.
